... the words are said by our yep leader when we were discussing about picture taking in cambodia..
suddenly at the moment, a thot struck me. the ppl from some third world countries are exploiting us! they thot we sg have gold mines. the goodwill of yep to inculcate certain good values(leadership qualities, independent, team spirit, foster bond btwsg and other countries, build friendly neighbourhood relationship btw countries, volunteerism, sensitive to ppl's needs, care and empathy for other people...) may backfire.. definately not backfire on ourselves.. but will lead to reliance of some countries on others? Will it lead to changed in mindset of the locals? "It is a must for the rich to help us" .. will it lead to more laid back?
when we were dicussing about how we felt about picture taking.. i expressed the knowledge i learnt from soci of tourism.. expressed the could-be thots of the locals.. how they might felt when we take pictures of their daily life.. we are actualli intruding their private space.. the locals might not know why are we taking so many pictures? One day, will they become wad is like in new guineans? they charge ppl for certain fotos taken? they will start to hate the tourist who keep invading their space and bargain with them for a pitiful amount of money. But, all these are just subjective.. if interested to know how they realli feel, have to interview them i guess.. postitive or negative impact depends on which angle u look at it.
of course, i didn't manage to express wad i felt inside..i couldn't phrase them all out.. i dunno if the ppl get my pts a not.. aniwei.. i ll think twice if i m going to take pictures of children bathing in the public.. or adults washing clothes in the public.
